There’s something special and anxiety-producing about a first. Our very first Office Hours felt exactly like that, in the best way. And, for this first, we invited all subscribers to the party! (If you are a subscriber, you can see the full replay below).

We hosted our first live session with Dr. Tay, and instead of a polished lecture or slide-heavy training, what unfolded was something much closer to what Office Hours is meant to be: real conversation, real connection, and real concepts that show up in our day-to-day lives as SLPs.

That’s the point of this whole thing.

Office Hours was designed to feel like you’re sitting in on a conversation you actually want to be part of, not watching from the sidelines. It’s not a course. It’s not a webinar you half-listen to while writing notes you’ll never revisit. It’s a space to ask, clarify, and leave with something you can use tomorrow.

What We Talked About

Dr. Tay brought a mix of clarity and honesty that kept the conversation grounded in real practice. Some of the highlights:

  • What’s actually showing up in sessions right now
Not theory, not best-case scenarios, but the messy, in-the-moment realities clinicians are navigating every day.
  • Bridging the gap between research and real life
How to take what we know and make it work within time constraints, caseload pressures, and systems that don’t always cooperate.
  • Common sticking points clinicians are facing
The questions people are thinking but don’t always get to ask in traditional trainings.
  • Live Q&A that shaped the session in real time
This was the heartbeat of the hour. The conversation shifted based on what attendees wantedo to hear about the most, and that’s where the most useful insights came from.

There wasn't a script. And, there may not have been perfect answers. But what we did have was a thoughtful, practical discussion with people who get it.
